- 1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
- 12 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate finely chopped
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder for rolling
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk and chopped chocolate. Stir constantly until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and pour the chocolate mixture into a shallow dish or onto a plate. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing the plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the chocolate mixture to prevent a skin from forming.
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until the mixture is firm enough to scoop.
Once chilled, scoop out small portions of the chocolate mixture (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll them into smooth balls using your hands.
Place the cocoa powder in a shallow dish. Roll each truffle in the cocoa powder until evenly coated.
Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
-
- Try rolling the truffles in chopped nuts, shredded coconut, or powdered sugar for variety.
-
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
-
- For easier scooping, use a small cookie scoop or melon baller.
-
- Add a splash of vanilla extract for a richer flavor.
